It’s cold and snowy and the sun sets too early. No matter how much we try to keep our thoughts positive, we can all fall victim to those winter blues at times. We at LG Insurance Agency want to share a few of the tropical destinations we dream about while braving the long winter. To beat those winter blues, imagine yourself sunbathing, swimming or surfing in these paradise locales!
The Maldives
In the Indian Ocean, southwest of India and Sri Lanka is a collection of some of the most beautiful islands you’ll ever see. There are over a thousand of them grouped in a double chain of 26 ring-shaped atolls. The islands are surrounded by coral reefs and the clearest blue water, ideal for snorkeling and catching glimpses of colorful tropical fish. The Baa Atoll features a resort with a remarkable underwater restaurant that sits atop a thriving coral reef. There is no place in the world quite like The Maldives!
Kaua’i, Hawaii
While Oahu, Maui and the Big Island are beautiful in their own right, Kaua’i is the true island paradise of Hawaii. This stunning island is largely untouched by the tourist attractions which have popped up on the other islands of Hawaii, so it has a more wild, pristine atmosphere. Kaua’i has numerous walking trails through forested mountains with waterfalls and beaches to explore along the way. It also features Queen’s Bath, a volcanic tidal pool which offers a truly unique swimming experience.
Bora Bora
Bora Bora is a group of islands southwest of Hawaii, so far isolated in the Pacific Ocean in fact that it’s roughly the same distance from California to Hawaii as it is from Hawaii to Bora Bora. New Zealand isn’t any closer. Bora Bora is about as far isolated as you can get and it’s tiny (only roughly 12 square miles), but it’s famous and frequently tops “best places to visit” lists because of its unparalleled beauty. Can’t you just imagine yourself swimming through the coral reef in that crystal clear turquoise water? Watch out for the stingrays, though!
Bali, Indonesia
Located in southern Indonesia is the idyllic island paradise of Bali. Bali is home to stunning vistas, beautiful architecture and plenty of beaches and lagoons you can picture yourself wading into. Bali is known for its gorgeous forested mountains, the highest being Mount Agung. It erupted in 2017, but we’re safe admiring it from afar! Lembongan Island, a small island next to Bali is home to the underwater Buddha, an incredible art exhibit. Bali has an atmosphere of calm and peace (when Mount Agung isn’t erupting of course!), its rice paddies, scenic mountain views and serene temples giving it an aura of tranquility.
