Your friends at LG Insurance hope you and your loved ones had a wonderful holiday season! Just because all the excitement is over doesn’t mean there aren’t still fun things to do in the coming weeks. Here are a few events happening this month in our community:

Polar Bear Plunge at Union Beach

How brave are you when it comes to the cold? Brave enough to jump into the frigid ocean in January? If you’ve got what it takes, participate in the Union Beach polar bear plunge on January 11 at 10:00 a.m. This year’s plunge is benefiting Jason’s Dreams for Kids, an organization which fulfills wishes for kids diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. You’re welcome to participate individually, as part of a team or just as a spectator. You’re also welcome to join the after party being held at American Legion 321. Come out and support a great cause!

Seashore Open House

One of the best things about living on the Jersey Shore year-round is that the beach is just as beautiful in the wintertime, and we can enjoy it without dealing with crowds of tourists. Bundle up and come to Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park in Long Branch on Sunday, January 12 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the Seashore Open House, an afternoon of hands-on fun. You and your family can learn more about aquatic animals, seashells and other topics related to our oceans and shores. You will also get the chance to create a beach keepsake to take home. This event is free and light refreshments will be provided. Come see why the beach isn’t just for summer fun!

Jersey Shore Home Show

Thinking about remodeling or renovating your home? There’s no better place than the Jersey Shore Home Show to display for you so many options all in one place and inspire your creativity! The show runs Friday, January 24 to Sunday, January 26 at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft. Admission is free if you register online ahead of time or $10 at the door. This home show, featuring over seventy exhibitors, will give you plenty of ideas and get you excited for your next home improvement project.

Asbury Park Beerfest

Beer festivals aren’t just for October! If you love craft beer and cider, sign up for one of the sessions at the Asbury Park Beerfest. Sessions are being held at the Convention Hall in Asbury Park on Saturday, January 25 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Sunday, January 26 from noon to 4:00 p.m. Another session on January 25 is already sold out, so be sure to get your tickets as soon as possible! For $44 you’ll get to enjoy craft beers and ciders, retro beers, classic boardwalk food and entertainment brought to you by WRAT 95.9. In addition to being a ton of fun, this event benefits the Best Day Foundation, Clean Ocean Action and Officer Down NJ charities.
