It’s the height of summer! There are still plenty of days to have fun in the sun before it’s time to think about heading back to school. Here are a few events happening in Monmouth County this month, all of which are outdoors, family friendly and free! 

Clamfest

The 25th Annual Clamfest starts tonight! From Thursday, August 1 to Sunday, August 4, Huddy Park in Highlands will be home to a great festival with live entertainment, a vendor marketplace, a beer and wine garden and, of course, a vast array of fresh, mouth-watering seafood from Highlands’ best restaurants. There will also be a fireworks show the night of Friday, August 2. Admission and parking are free. Come get some tasty grub and relax with your family! 

Faerie Festival

Do your kids love pretending to be faeries, wizards, elves or other mystical beings? The Faerie Festival in Allentown is a celebration of magic, fun and creativity taking place on Saturday, August 3. Visit different spots in Allentown throughout the day to take part in magical craft making, face painting, unicorn rides, creating flower crowns and storytelling. There will also be a costume contest, a butterfly release and a parade through Heritage Park. Take a break from the mundane and venture with your kids into a realm of magic, wonder and play! 

Rolling Iron Antique Auto Show

Have you ever seen antique cars on the road or in a parade and wished you could have gotten a better look? If you come to the 24th Annual Rolling Iron Antique Auto Show, you’ll get to see more than 200 antique vehicles of all kinds up close. The show is from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18 in the Historic Village at Allaire in Wall Township. If you have a car of your own that was made prior to 1992 that you’d like to enter, pre-registration is $18 or $20 the day of. Admission for spectators is free. Whether you’re an antique car enthusiast or just a little curious about old vehicles, you won’t want to miss this auto show!

Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Festival 

What could be better on a Saturday than a beautiful summer day filled with sunshine and free music? The Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Festival will take place on the Long Branch Great Lawn and Promenade on Saturday, August 24. The music will begin at 1:00 p.m. and will continue until 9:00, when the event ends on a high note with a fireworks show. America has always been home to great jazz and blues music. Come hear contemporary bands honor that heritage while putting their own spin on the genres.
