Today officially marks the beginning of spring! Now that the snowy weather has finally subsided, we’re dreaming about bicycle rides, hikes, barbecues, picnics in the park, baseball games . . . We know you probably are too! One of the most exciting parts of getting ready for fun in the sun is putting your boat back in the water! Whether you enjoy fishing, waterskiing, wakeboarding, or just cruising around with your friends and family, we’re sure you’re eager to get out on the water.

Before you do though, it’s a good idea to review the insurance policy on your boat to be sure you’re protected from any mishaps. We recommend you check with an agent at LG Insurance to ensure your boat policy has the following features:

Injuries
You’ll be covered if you or one of your passengers is injured for any reason, including injuries related to tubing, waterskiing, wakeboarding, or other sports.

Collision
In the event you collide with a submerged object or another boat (regardless of fault), your repair costs will be covered.

Non-Collision Damage
If something beyond your control damages your boat, such as theft, vandalism, fire, falling trees, weather-related incidents etc., your costs will be covered.

Roadside Assistance
What happens if you’re towing your boat and your vehicle breaks down? Now you have two vehicles that need to be towed! If you ensure that your boat policy includes this feature, towing costs will be covered even if your towing vehicle isn’t insured with us. Another great option to add to your policy is food and lodging expenses if you break down far away from home.

On-Water Towing
What would you do if your engine died or you forgot to put enough gas in the tank? Depending on water currents and the size of your boat, rowing back may not be an option. Having on-water towing as part of your policy will ensure that you aren’t stranded.

Total Loss Replacement
If you get into an accident and your boat incurs so much damage it is either beyond repair or would cost more than the boat’s value to fix, you can use total loss replacement coverage to cover the cost of replacing your boat.

Fuel Spill Liability
In the event that your boat sinks or has a fuel leak, we’ll be sure the cost to get your boat out of the water and clean up the spill is covered.

Once you have your insurance squared away, we hope that you’ll have the peace of mind that comes from knowing you’re protected from any hazards that can occur. Then you can get out there and enjoy the warm weather and beautiful, blue water!
